Psychotherapy-Dramatherapy

Dramatherapy uses all forms of theatre and action as a direct therapeutic intervention. It is based on the notion that theatre contains inherent therapeutic qualities and that dramatic transfer can bring about profound change (catharsis).

It predominantly uses theatrical techniques (voice, movement, improvisation, role play) and structures (rehearsal, performance, stage direction) and other expressive and creative techniques (painting, clay, sand).

Dramatherapy belongs to the Arts Therapies.

Application:

Individual Dramatherapy: constitutes the first stage of therapy, which lasts 50 minutes on a weekly basis.

Group Dramatherapy:

The aim of the Dramatherapy groups is to develop the strengths of the individual, to impart new ways of dealing with the circumstances of their life, thus achieving a mental and emotional balance. This is achieved by broadening the horizons of the client’s experiences and extending the range of emotional and social roles experienced in their life.

The techniques Dramatherapy uses are: movement – mime – guided imagination – sociogram – painting – clay. In a Dramatherapy session the personal scenario of each member is presented in a symbolic form.

The groups are open-ended and take place weekly for one and a half hours each session. The number of member of each group varies from 4 to 8.

The Groups operate on:

Monday 7.45-9.30 p.m.

Tuesday 7.30-9.00 p.m.

Thursaday 6.00-7.30
